Dear Reader...

I love when I have a moment to sit down and write about my day. I am busy like you wouldn´t know… I have been working on my next two collections, and right now, I can´t wait to show you my newest designs. Unfortunately you will have to wait until I have received them from my production sight. One of the things I really want to tell you about, is the process and time it takes to make a collection. A design in the making starts in my mind. I sometimes have an idea several years before it is made, sometimes I dream of something, wake up and sketch it. It´s never just an easy process. After it has been sketch, the process of finding the right color, and fabric begins. -sometimes the fabric I want doesn´t exist – only in my mind. When this happens I am forced to make a compromise. Or leave the idea for another time. my drawing here on the left -with my first text: La Moda, later on I changed it to : "AtisaCool" - which means atisa :clothes (cool clothes)....

Blue Fashion Challenge - my contribution

I am in love! With fashion! To be more excactly, fashion made by sustainable materials. The Blue Fashion Challenge held by NORA on the beautiful Faroe Islands became my dream come true workplace! Along with 10 other specially picked out Nordic designers - we had a Blue Fashion Challenge. And whom isn´t up for a challenge? The Blue - Means fashion designs made out of the Waste or sustainable materials we get from fishing and the sealhunting in Greenland. And before you go nuts about the seal thing. Get this thing straight! Sealskin from Greenland are a biproduct from the sealhunt. We (the Hunters of Greenland) hunt the seal for meat. Yes! that´s right - we eat it, as European people eat, fish, cows, pigs and so on. Only different cause we´we been such a hunted native people by activist from several animal rights organisations, is that when ever we shout a seal, and the "Waste" product- the skin is beeing sold -at a really low price- The sealskin is given a number. The oh so (not) Glamorous life of a designer

Imagine to sit and draw and create beautiful design for sale in stores ... with a breathtaking view out to the ocean, eagles, whales and seals passing by… I have often had that thought ... I am an educated designer at Columbine International Design School, when it existed in Frederiksberg in Copenhagen. A school that delivered curriculum and diplomas in three different languages. There were high expectations. We started 63 students, but only 18 of us passed! Today we are, as I know only 2-3 of the students making an actual way of living as designers .... If you can call what I do just that! For building a brand requires anything but the design part ... Here is the reality: On an ordinary weekday, I wake up to mails. When I reach the shop I start: vacuuming, washing floors, answer phone calls, unpack products, put price tags on, get and send packages, reply to 20000 mails about anything possible, serve customers between kl.11.00-17.30, do the cash count...
